Magnetite

The mineral magnetite is a naturally occurring form of iron oxide (Fe₃O₄) and is strongly magnetic.

Researchers have discovered a small deposit of magnetite on the beaks of some birds, which may play an important role in navigation. Magnetite has also been found in bacteria, honey bees, homing pigeons, dolphins, and humans’ nose bones.
